Microsoft seems unable to largen the gap.

So Sony could do it given time.

It'll depend on price cuts and bundled games mostly. Xbox 360 pretty much owned the PS3 last year during the holidays and that could easily happen again this year. I'm expected a price cut announcement from Microsoft at the E3 though. Sony will probably follow suit soon after. A $150 360 Arcade Slim will sell like crazy, even moreso if Microsoft finally decides to put a real HDD in it. With a Kinect price cut as well, they are going to move a lot of systems this holiday. I don't the PS3 catching up until after the next-gen of consoles starts.

Somehow that owning wasn't shown in shipments for that quarter.

And sales in America aren't especiall hot for first two months of 2011:

X360 1,172,731 (-86%) 30,792,467
DS 1,021,263 (-90%) 54,787,929
Wii 988,963 (-89%) 40,893,361
PS3 856,629 (-85%) 19,065,324
PSP 339,619 (-85%) 21,776,637
PS2 337,525 (-82%) 55,606,839
Total 4,716,730(-87%)
