In general, it is my belief that Nintendo is so successful as a company because they produce high quality games that are distinct within the entire market and are accessible to everyone. There really isn’t a defined genre that Nintendo can not or will not produce.
In contrast, third parties end up struggling because they produce low quality generic games which target a tiny market segment. They end up restricting the content of the games they’re creating based on the platform they’re releasing it to. They should put some of their effort that they’re putting into unconventional games into producing high quality unconventional games for the Xbox 360 and PS3, at the same time they should put a lot of the effort they’re putting into conventional games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 into producing conventional games for the Wii and Nintendo DS.
