I think the variety/quantity of games and lack of money affect lot of people and not all of the best games get as much sales as they deserve. Personally, there's like over 5 games I want and maybe 10 more I would propably like a lot after playing, but I don't have the money to buy them all. There's just too many good exclusives and multiplats around on the PS3 and they just keep coming and coming. |
I don't share your crisis. Split between my Wii, PS3, and 360 I have 100 games. Last Gen I had about 100 games split between my PS2 and Gamecube and bought about 20 more XB1 titles when I got my 360.
I also don't think this is the reason exclusives don't sell well on PS3. PS3, like PS2 has a very diversified audience. Games like CoD and GTA sell well because they are well known games in the media. If I talked to my friend who only has a PS2 about games, he would know about CoD and GTA, and maybe LBP, but not Resistance, Killzone, Demon Souls, or Mass Effect.
Gears of War and Halo sell well because they established themselves in a past generation, or early into this generation. Killzone 2 was a 2009 title. Uncharted and LBP fair a little better because they started earlier and have gotten more media attention, and Resistance 1 was often looked at as an inferior compeditor to Gears, so it, like InFamous, and Killzone, have been kind of ignored.
Also of the AAA PS3 titles, a lot of them are very different. I don't think the release of LBP2 will affect most Killzone 3 buyers. Besides, Fall 2010 PS3 didn't have much outside of GT5 and multiplatform titles, so people who were honestly interested in KZ3, could have saved up.
