Super Smash Bros. over Tekken 3?

A game that earned a 79 on metacritic is better than the game that scored a 96? A good fighter is better than what people at the time called "one of the greatest video games of all time"?

I know, isn't that strange? Why is Super Smash Bros. my favorite fighting game, besides Super Smash Bros. Melee, when it only got a score of 79 on Metacritic, which kind of sucks, and a score of 80% on Game Rankings (equivalent to 4/5 stars)? Perhaps Tekken 3 may have had better controls and such, but come on... Would you rather fight with many Nintendo characters, or the characters in Tekken, that don't have nearly as much history as the Nintendo characters? Also, I think that Super Smash Bros. was under rated, as well as Super Smash Bros. Melee, but I think Super Smash Bros. sold more copies than Tekken 3, which also says something. I have not played Tekken 3, so I can't really say much about the game, except for the fact that I know it maxes out as a two player game, while Super Smash Bros. maxes out as a four player game. Okay, Tekken 3 is better, but I like Super Smash Bros. better, and I don't think I will change my mind, even when, or if I ever play Tekken 3. I have seen videos, and it looks like any other, typical fighting game. I will play it one day, so that I have a true opinion on the game. As for now, it's Super Smash Bros. forever!
