  • Wii (18-20 million)
  • 360 (13-15 million)
  • PS3 (12.5-14.5 million - 0.5-1 million below 360)
  • DS (11-14 million)
  • 3DS (9-12 million)
  • PSP (5-10 million)
  • NGP (3-6 million, pending release)
  • The reason I think Wii will come in first is because I feel a Wii price cut will boost Wii sales the most. I've noticed that if you align PS2 and Wii sales, Wii generally sells 2-3 million more then PS3 on a given year. PS2 saw a jump in sales in 2005 to 18 million, I think Wii should be able to just outdo that.

Also I think 360 will outsell PS3 because so far they have been selling the exact same amount, but in the holiday season, Kinect hype will make 360 super popular in Americas and just like in 2010, 360 should see a strong lead for the most important quarter). Also 360 has been holding off PS3 without much exclusive software. In the holidays 360 has a very strong lineup (Gears, Forza, Halo Rumor, 360 preffered CoD, Mass Effect, and about 10 Kinect exclusives).

Haven't you been paying attention in here? Price doesn't matter!

Yes it does. When the PS3 Slim was released for just $299 everyone was buying it. Even when the XBox 360 had it's price cut, the sales surged for like 6 months straight. Price definitely matter and if the Wii is only $149.99 during the holidays, millions of people are going to buy it. One thing you are forgetting about the 3DS. It's going to sell very strong during the off months when the PS3 and XBox 360 will only be selling 200K or less worldwide. the 3DS will be selling 400-500K ww if Nintendo can keep up with the demand.

Yea, but what if the HD consoles get equivalent price cuts? I think what Mummell was refering to that with current trends, Wii yearly sales will be below HD consoles, and if price affects every console equally then price doesn't matter. However I think a price cut on the Wii will be more beneficial then a PS3/360 price cut, but we never know.

Also I dunno about 3DS. I can't see this outselling the DS, and the DS sold 11 million on it's first full year on the market. 3DS only gets 9 months in Americas and EMEAA, and 10 months on Japan, and I just can't picture the 3DS being 50% more popular then the DS, and do it in 85% of the time. That and shipments are likely to be strained come this fall, it's 3D technology after all, going to be hard to sell in bulk, thats why I think the price is so high. Also $250 for a handheld? I don't think 10 year old kids can afford that (a large portion of handheld games sales are to youth).
