Butbutbut ... I thought you were just giving yourself resources.  I mean ... the BRICK ... and the GLASS ... I mean ...

Besides which, just the not finding any diamond.  It seems pretty dry to me, too, when I've explored caves and dug mines, but I've at least found enough to replace what I use up. 

bricks and glass spawned. but no kits, the main area, was built with sand made into glass, also mined out with stone and ore picks. no tnt, used though, it got to the point i was having issues finding sand without stealing all of joes sand, there uses to be a few sand islands near my base. and i had a tree farm for a long time to keep my supply of wood up on the island before i took it below the sea

 

and as for the slime... thats a pain, but i dont think they can stop powered carts, ive never really played with launchers as they were always bugged on servers until recently, and powered mine carts can push a chain of carts, just not other powered mine carts
