Within the past month, yeah, but a few months ago I never would've imagined that would happen. I thought it'd roughly match Killzone 2's opening week, and possibly do better. The game's been advertised more heavily than Killzone 2 afterall.
Though Killzone 2 had cinema ads and a red carpet opening in Europe, and that didn't happen for Killzone 3, so maybe it's just been better advertise in NA.

Well Killzone 2 did 350K in EMEAA and 350K in NA week 1...so basically equal.
Killzone 3 according to the article did 250K in EMEAA and 250K in NA too.
So despite worse/better marketing its down by 100K in each region for launch.
