Ok, I'll play
I'm massively hyped for 3DS. I played it today in HMV (in Sheffield town centre, UK), and I loved it. It's so small! Seriously, the internet makes the thing look huge; I was imagining phat DS size, but in reality it's smaller than a DS Lite. It's glossier, too. The turquoise (aka Aqua Blue) colour is SO F*%$ing hot, seriously it looks unbelievably sexy in the flesh, its very shiny and the colour is deep and rich. It looks expensive, but it feels light enough not to be intimidating.
I only played the Augmented Reality thing and Face Raiders - both were brilliant - but I did manage to be a bit sneaky and I hit the 'Home' button when they werent looking and poked through the menus. Even the text like 'Mii Channel' and '3DS Music' is 3D and sort of 'lifts' out of the screen.
The 3D does work well. A couple of seconds of adjustment and *BAM*, sweet spot, it works flawlessly. The screen seems to go 'in', like a well, and objects lift out of it and just look so...3D!. I tried sliding the scaler and 2D just looks atrociously dull by comparison.
The only thing taking my excitement down is that 1. there are no good games on launch and 2. a DS game, Pokemon B/W, is out next week and as a huge huge pokefan I will prob be playing that for 6 months anyway...
