What name would you give the 7th generation?

Luckily for us a generation isn't defined by sales.

Take sales out of it then, it's still the Wii generation.

The Wii is going to be what you remember most of about this gen is all is said and done?

I will remember that it brought the motion gaming into the mainstream but at the end of the day it was the HD consoles that expanded upon it, not to mention drove forward the online gaming space while the Wii was still stuck in the past.

HD consoles added achievement/trophy system, more DLC, more original games to XBLA/PSN than Wii ever had for WiiWare. 

I think that at the end of the gen it will be the HD consoles that provided more for the future of the medium than the Wii had.

 

Of course many may disagree, but I just don't see how the Wii offered anything moving foward other than the motion control. At the end of the day it is all about the games and the experience, in which case I think the HD consoles provide more of. Just look at how they are the ones moving up.

I love you lists things under HD, but majority of that was started by the 360 later copied by Sony in some capacity. I am finding it funny that ps3 is put in with the 360, when it comes to accomplishments. 

If anything using your logic, 360 defined this generation, not HD.
