I wasn't on board with the hatebase you refer to. I simply played The Prime games and Super Metroid many times and was hoping for an awesome game. I hated it and thought everyone else loved it when I saw the generous reviews it was getting.
I do agree that if the backlash is bad enough then we can probably see some changes that alter the game from what it was. But if it's made by the same people I can't imagine any swift overhauls, otherwise why would they want to work on a title that is completely changed from what they loved.
