That's sort of how I feel about Half-Life 2. I realise that, objectively, it's a brilliant game, but somehow, I just can't bear to play it. It's not because of character relationships, because the only actual character in Half-Life 2, other than a few cameo appearances, is a mute physicist. I just really don't like it.
So actually, it's nothing like your dilemma at all. Finish the game.
