Oh for god sake... no that post doesn't have any fair points. His post, wherever it is from, is utter bollocks. One more time for the hard of thought.... $500m dollars for qtr 4 (Oct ot Dec) is not remotely abnormal. Lets paint it another way..... MS spent $500m and their sales are up and somehow thats not good.... but Ninty spent almost $500m too and their sales are in free fall... so....? |
I never said is WAS abnormal now, did I?
Nor did I say I agreed.
Nor did I say it was hard fact
But I did say it was possible, and probable.
What IS impressive is how a console in its 6th year is at its peak in sales, whereas in previous gens the next generation would have already started. But there's no denying that many, many people expected the 360 to win this holiday season, and whilst it was great for them, it just didn't happen
Your points are true (though I expect Nintendo would have spent around $250mil, if not less, advertising this winter, but that's just a wild guess), but I expected higher 360 numbers from what I've seen. I expected it to be miles in the lead, akin to the Wii in '08 and '09, but it hasn't done so yet. It may do in the future, but, for the moment, the figures are a bit lower than I expected
EDIT**
Upon reading it again, it isn't actually as clean-cut as I thought it was, which is depressing. I thought he said an additional $500million on top of last year, exclusing dev costs etc. And remembering that Kinect has pushed the 360 into a 6th-year peak is impressive, and should be appluaded. So, yeah. My mistake
