Against the grain: Why do we Europeans hate RPG's?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but CRPGs do and have always done fairly well in Europe, so it's not like the continent has rejected the genre.  But much like Japan prefers JRPGs to WRPGs, Europe prefers a different kind of RPG than the J version.
