Wii is alraedy small, reliable and energy efficient. What would a redesign add? That's what colours or limited edition are here for. Nintendo didn't redesign the N64 or the GC. They won't redesign the Wii.

When will people stop saying that a redesign implies a smaller console?

It just needs a fresh new imagine. Not to be smaller. Heck, it can even be slightly bigger.
