The people that think this is going to sell more than the DS are a bit delusional,no offence. My bet is around 100M.

On what basis are they delusional? A generation has, up until now, never seen a decrease from the previous one. The PsP2 is unlikely to sell more than the PsP. If we assume that it ties the original, you're looking at a decrease from ~ 235 million to around 170 million, or a drop of 27% out of practically nowhere.

Key words; "up until now", Sony are going to end up way below the PS2 and the 3DS is very unlikely to outsell the DS. The market is moving so quickly now compared to previous generations and I can't see any home console beating the PS2's lifetime sales either anytime soon. Not to mention smart devices, which are bound to have an effect on dedicated handheld consoles; the market conditions just aren't there for a device like the 3DS, in my opinion.

I'm talking about absolute sales of the generation, not of any specific machine. I personally can't see the 3DS PsP2 selling much less than the DS PsP, as it's directly the opposite of anything that's happened before.
I have no trouble seeing the Wii 2 sell less than the Wii, though. It could easily lose to the next Playstation and Xbox, and thus sell less than the Wii, similarily to what happened with the Ps2.

That's exactly my point; smartphones and other gadgets are eating into the portable gaming market, effectively shrinking the sales potential for the 3DS and PSP2. So even though the market may remain flat or even grow in the next generation of handhelds, it will be distributed between more platforms and thus we'll see less sales for the best selling ones (despite growth in the home console market, the Wii appears to be a long way away from ever beating the PS2's lifetime sales).
