Packaging was noted.  There was no GBA slot so games that had the GBA slot on the DS game box were excluded on the DSi.  There is no packaging for 3DS titles that require 3D.

And still you are removing a fundamental feature of the console.  The only system in the history of video to release a model that removed a fundamentally featured bit of functionality or massive collection of current gen content is the PSP Go.  And I'm quite sure we all know how that goes.

If this is a Rol thread, Rol does not approve.

Did you pay attention to what I wrote? I distinctly stated this hypothetical system would cost LESS than the full model, not more.

As for fundamental, that would only apply if 3D catches on, and isn't a fad, in which case my suggestion will be moot anyway.

This is about the possibility of the bubble bursting. It might turn out that people would actively see 3D movies less because they are sick of it. Then it doesn't matter if some 3DS games require it on. Nintendo will have to face that it would hurt the system more than help it.

The problem I have with this is the denial of even the possibility of it being dropped. Again, just the possibility.

But the 3D of the 3DS is not dependant on the market acceptence of 3D content in other market products.   It's like saying that polygons had to catch on elsewhere or the 5th generation could have been in danger.

3D is a fundamental part fo the 3DS.  Either it has it or it doesn't.  And since the inception of the product or up this point in time, it has it.  They will not remove a fundamental function of the unit in a separate model regardless of the market factors of external 3D content.
