To be honest GT5 is performing about as well as I expected. 5 weeks, with a holiday release and GT5 manages to match GT4's sales within 5 weeks in a much slower selling period of the year.
I'm not a hater, I love GT, I own all of them, including the PSP game. However I think a lot of people are overly excited about this game. I originally predicted 8.5 million, then scaled up to 9.4 million, and I think something between that range is very likely. Thats pretty good considering PS3 only has 1 other exclusive that has topped the 5 million mark, and it's only about 10-20% below the GT average range of 10-11 million.
This game may very well outsell GT2.
That said, these threads always lead to arguements, so don't reply to this if you only intend to demean my opinion. We won't be able to do an accurate GT5-GT4 comparision until at least 10 weeks, and even then thats pretty early.
