I hate niche games. The more a game sells under 2-3M the more my chances of disliking that game rise. Conversely the more a game sells over 2-3M the chances of my liking that game rise. That doesn't mean that I never really enjoy something which doesn't sell or will nearly always enjoy something which sells heaps.

My favourite shooter franchises are:

1. Half Life (10M plus)
2. Halo (10M plus)
3. Crysis (3M plus)
4. Gears of War (5M plus)
5. Call of duty (10M plus)

My favourite racing franchises are:

1. Mario Kart (20M plus?)

Well yeah, I don't see any reason to keep giving examples.

I am so oposite of you. RPG is my favorite platform, so let me give you examples.

Favorite RPG's

1. Mass Effect 2 (2.4 million)

2. Chrono Trigger (2.31 million)

3. Super Mario RPG (2.14 million)

4. Golden Sun (1.67 million)

5. Fallout 3: GOTY Ed in my case (360 - 3.48 million, combined - 5.93 million)

and this gen, Lost Odyssey, Too Human, and Tales of Vesperia have all been great hits for me, all selling under 1 million

Those aren't low sales. None under the median or even the upper quartile for that genre. Your favourite selling RPGs are only really eclipsed by less than half a dozen franchises from this generation at least.

See, you too really do like games which sell more, more typically. Though that doesn't mean that you won't find other smaller releases extremely enjoyable.

Tease.
