What if it's not about getting the games or the systems? Ever thought it might be just wanting the Wii to have the games, since we know it can sell them (TvC sold far better than many of the other niche Capcom fighting games, and the sales of the Street Fighter games on the VC)?

"What if it's not about getting the games or the systems? Ever thought it might be just wanting the Wii to have the games,"

Is only something a console loyalist should care about.  Anyone normal will just be content to play the games they want to and not be thinking "I don't even want this game but they should port this for no reason except because I want games on the Wii" which is what you just posted.

Capcom has no niche fighters this gen, TvC sure isn't, the vs series is mainstream popular.

I gotta call that. The VS series has not had a huge seller so far. Calling it mainstream requires something like 10 million sales, and the VC games have not even had a 1 million seller if I'm not mistaken.

I guess Final Fantasy isn't mainstream then.

Not to mention Halo only became mainstream with Halo 3 and hasn't been mainstream since. Also I guess Zelda doesn't fit the criteria either, or Resident Evil, or Guitar Hero, or Fallout, Gears of War, Just Dance, Donkey Kong Country, etc...

You get my point.

10M is in no way a barrier for determining mainstream.

By your criteria, what is the point in adding Zelda to a Wii version of Soul Caliber if Zelda isn't mainstream, seeing as it doesn't sell 10M?

Let us remember that Street Fighter is not mainstream either, even though they hold competitions that span the entire US.

Don't forget that Street Fighter has had movies as well, which brings me to another point...

Had Mortal Kombat never been mainstream? According to this site is has never surpassed 3M in sales. I am sure it has had at least 2 full length features films in theaters as well as another set to release this year.

I guess your argument just got torn to pieces.

Edit - My bad, MK2 has surpassed 4-5M when combining SNES/GEN sales, although that is still not mainstream.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
