Nobody would of saved the home console market. As such everyone would be a PC gamer. In otherwords, Microsoft would be way happier.
There would be no sony in games. As the Nintendo/Sony SNES CD deal would never have been made then broken.
Basically a lot of companies would develop for the computer only... there'd be no console wars aside from PC vs Mac. (Which PC would own in on the gaming side.)
Valve I guess would be the best game developer ever? And we'd probably not see half the genres we have now. Or if we did in very small quantitys.
