That is exactly what I was trying to say. A game with a solid story like Ocarina of Time can be great, but I will argue that sometimes taking minimalistic approach to storytelling is the best way to go about it. Look at the Mario games. Princess Peach is captured by Bowser and Mario saves her. Most gamers consider those games masterpieces and it's the same story everytime. Why? Because they are all about the gameplay. I'll be honest, they almost lost me with the side story about Rosalina and the Lumas in Super Mario Galaxy because it wasn't well done in my opinion.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that if the story is badly written that I'd rather not have much of one. They just interrupt the action.
