1.) Xcom is not an exclusive. 2.) Mass Effect 3 is not an exclusive or even a timed exclusive. 3.) Killzone 3,Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 already have release dates. 4.) What the heck is Huxley? 5.) You mention the ps3 probably delaying its games, yet you still mention a game that is rumored for the xbox 360, and mention a few titles without a proper title yet. 6.) Last Guardian is not a revival of an old franchise. As of right now, the ps3 has a better lineup of games for 2011. Of course this could change, but as of right now, Forza 4 and Gears of War 3 are pretty much it. |
1) XCOM is console exclusive
2) Mass Effect 3 has not been confirmed to be a PS3 title as of yet. It may very likely be a timed exclusive, and I only counted this as a maybe since Fog of War assumes every PS3 game he mentioned will release in 2010, but cases like Gran Turismo, Killzone 2 and Shadow of The Colossus tell us this may not be the case.
3) So did a lot of PS3 exclusives which got delayed in the end. SOCOM 4 also does not have a release date yet, neither do a few other PS3/360 exclusives. This is a subjective debate.
4) A FPS from Microsoft, been in development for years, just unlike Sony MS doesn't talk about games it has planed for the next 5 years, they focus on the year of. Thats why everyone always thinks MS is doomed on a software from next year, every year.
5) I mention everything that is to be taken into consideration. There are games for Kinect in development for the 2011 calendar year, so they obviously count. I never excluded any PS3 games because one or two of them will likely get delayed into 2012, I just mentioned that they could get delayed.
-)However looking up, no one mentioned "The Agent for PS3", and "FFXIII Versus." There are rumors circulating that FFXIII Versus will be multiplatform, but the game should still be taken as a PS3 exclusive for now. Then again that game does have a 2012 release date, but "The Agent" may be released in 2011. So Plus 1 for the PS3, but it's still a close list.
My arguement wasn't that PS3 doesn't have a better lineup, it was that the lineup is similar in quality. It's too early to judge better software of 2011, as we don't know the story on many franchises (Halo Remake, Mass Effect 3, Future Kinect/Move software). The real debate is weather or not PS3 will surpass 360, and with Kinect being so ridiculously popular in Americas, and modestly popular in EMEAA, 360 has a slight edge in 2011 (just like Sony had in 2010). Someone claimed PS3 software will be enough to offset the Kinect effect, and push PS3 sales to above 360 levels, and I'm only pointing out software isn't that different.
6) Subjective, Shadow of the Colossus is a 2005 title. I consider Golden Sun an old franchise revival, 2 games in 3 years, and then 7 years for the third is a long time. When The Last Guardian releases, the last ICO franchise game will have been 6 years old, thats a pretty long time. Zelda, Mario, Halo, Pokemon, MGS, Gears of War, etc all see new installments within at least 3 years. However this point, it's not really relevant to the debate. It's just a supporting arguement saying that if you list "The Last Guardian" as a good game, based off prior installments (which it probably will be, Shadow of the Colossus was my favorite PS2 game), you can say "Steel Battallion" will also be a good game. Your free to beleive what you feel.
As for your last statement I have proven otherwise. As is 360 is looking to have just as many bluckbuster hits. The only difference I see in the lineups is that Sony is relying more on sequels to prior well received, moderatly selling franchises. However you are right about one thing, It's too early to tell.
Besides, the whole reason whis was brought up was to see if software can push PS3 sales to be above 360 by a significant margin. The only 3 million plus selling PS3 franchise that was named was Uncharted 3. It's nice Sony is pushing out a lot of great First Party games, but MS has just as many exclusives, and at least 2 MS franchises will sell above 3 million. Heck Forza and Gears will likely sell around 5-6 million copies each, thats about as well as half the PS3 exclusive line-up.
So if Halo is confirmed, and Kinect gets some good software, it's pretty likely that MS will still push more software in 2011 then PS3, and in terms of console pushing ability, that gives MS the edge. PS3 is a great system, and it's really unfortunate that great games like "The Last Guardian" and "Killzone 3" will go unappreciated, but thats how the world works..
