It's brilliant, and I've never actually watched or played the game. I advise anyone who's caught half an episode in their childhood to watch the first episode of the series.
It is a very good parody of the show.
All you have to know is who the good/bad characters are, and that the anime is about playing a card game about fighting monsters.
