It was offered with Wii NSMB Wii Sports at Walmart on BF ahead of its release - I figure that deal alone assured it will reach alot of USA homes. You don't even need Nintendo or VGC for game sales in the USA really - Nintendo channel is fairly indicative with a multiplier of x3 to x8 for most stuff, more in a couple cases (Just Dance) less for super-online centric stuff.
People are difficult to govern because they have too much knowledge.
