| Slimebeast said: Eventually yes but only after the Xbox 3 already has launched, and by then not many people will care. 2011 will be pretty much status quo in sales (12-13 million each for PS3 and X360). Both consoles will drop $50 down to $250 (Xbox 360 250Gb will drop to $200 in Europe and the Arcade is even cheaper) so neither one will get a price advantage. And the broader worldwide popularity of Playstation will be offset by the Kinect boost. |
I agree with this. Kinect ensures that the 360 has a 2 to 1 lead in Americas, and that represents about half of worldwide sales. Next year, all of Sony's big sellers are sequels, and for this reason I think both consoles will loose popularity in 2011.
As for the price drop, MS will just offset anything Sony does. $250 Elite 360s/PS3's, okay that sounds in favor of PS3, but a $180 arcade 360 too? A kinect price cut to $100 will also likely boost 360 demand as well.
However threads like this will still continue. Wii will still be beaten next year, PS3 will surpass 360 and Wii in total sales, XBL will see a price cut, and dogs will walk upright and talk.
