On Mario Kart, I only mentioned it because you brought up Mod Nation Racers at one point. It is also worth highlighting because Double Dash allowed 4 players in every mode (with LAN for more than 4 obviously) but Mario Kart Wii lacks this. It highlight the subtle shift in priorities amongst even those developer most dedicated to keeping the local co-op play alive and well. I doubt anyone would argue against Nintendo still being the lead on that one as a console and game maker. |
It wasn't exactly my point, Snesboy started to claim that HD twins can't render 4 player split screen, I thought that he meant campaing because that's what the OP is referring to and I said that no system can render them, which is not exactly right, as I corrected myself in my last post. It's only not possible when using current gen graphics. (again PC could even do it with modern graphics)
However what I meant is that there never existed any games with 4 players split screen co-op campaign. Not in this gen and not anytime in the past.
I brought up ModNation Racers when I listed some 4 players splitscreen games., but that again has nothing to do with split screen campaigns.
As for Nintendo I wouldn't call them the ultimate leader on the local co-op front. They do a lot for it, but they're not even close the only company how supports it.
Fact is there are tons of good local co-op games on HD consoles and many people, as we can see it in this thread, apparently have no freakin clue of how many there really are.
