I read it, and it was very interesting to see how you came to your decision. I agree. I love both, and this was very hard to choose, but I ultimately went with Star Wars. Partly for the reasons you listed, and partly because I'm a space nut/aerospace engineering student, so I'm a bit biased. Also, I'm not sure how to explain this, but when I read a book or watch a movie, I really love forgetting that I'm not actually here, and that I'm a part of the universe of the book or movie. Nothing has ever done that quite like Star Wars for me. 

I know what you mean. There are a lot of things wrong with the Star Wars movies, but the Star Wars universe is huge, fascinating, and simultaneously alien and familiar. It's a universe that's really easy to get absorbed in. Hence, the 12 billion novels and spin offs.
