Tricky... both trilogies are great examples of what good, old school fantasy cinema should be. It's time to do a heads on comparison!
Hero
The hero is probably the most important guy in a story, especially a sci fi/fantasy. The audience needs somebody to root for, to be able to emphasize with, and, for lack of a better word, a “normal” character to help them deal with insane shit.
Both Luke Skywalker and Frodo Baggins are kind of similar. They're not particularly important people from rural areas who are summoned by wise men to partake in adventure.
