True, but as you say, it is an anomaly as most systems don't fail, at least not for a long time. I think we can forgive the PS2 being replaced once or twice at this point in its life. For most people, even core gamers, two of the same console in one house is pushing it. And you haveto admit, multipple Ds's in a house is far from an anomaly. Core gamers like new models of home console as well, in fact if it isn't system failure then remodels are probably the next biggest reason for a gamer to buy the same console again.
I mean you remember all the people that came on the forums to post how they bought the PS3 slim and the 360 slim, theres a number of people that did that with PS2 slim as well or the PSP slim.
