What? WaW was a year after MW. The CoD brand had only just built up to the monster we now know it is (basically, it still felt fresh when WaW was released). The point stands that if they can't innovate within the series which is difficult with yearly iterations, then the franchise will dwindle in popularity. This is especially true if they don't innovate but the competition does.

The series didnt really innovate ever since COD4 and ever since than the brand got bigger with every new release

As I said, it was only released 1 year after CoD4 when the hype was still strong. The hype is still strong, but if they keep this going it'll die down. My point still stands.

If the CoD series can't innovate, the series will dwindle, and with annual releases will dwindle faster than a game released every 2-3 years.

Take the Tomb Raider franchise as the perfect example. Initially very popular, they released 5 games in the PS1 gen which only evolved slightly. When they did finally try to innovate, the core team (Core Design, no pun intended) were fresh out of ideas and the competition thrived (e.g. Prince of Persia). Even with a new team creating a reimagined Tomb Raider it still wasn't at the level of the competition.

So after 4 games that are ''the same'' the hype is still strong, and not only strong, but STRONGER with every new game announcment. I find that hard to believe. People are not zombies. They will not buy identical game every year because they think 1st game was amazing. You'd think that the brand would start to fall out by now with Black Ops. I mean no one expected it to outsell Reach, but it didnt only outsell reach, but MW2 AS WELL. I think its just getting stronger IMO

That's initial sales. Even Activision believe total sales will be less than MW2.

The game sold almost 10 million week 1. What are you talking about? it will easly outsell MW2
