Fran is still there, at least according to his Facebook page.

Well, they should let him do the Nintendo stuff, then. He's the only one left who'd be able do do it somewhat right, imo.

Next time I talk to him, I'll ask him.  But I would imagine that he probably doesn't want to deal with the hostility from the other editors.
