Well, the appeal in OOT is that this is the first full on remake, while previous promotional or digital rereleases were simply the emulated N64 roms. They're also adding new content and altering aspects of the game supposedly, it's not going to be the "same game" by the most basic definition.
People got excited about REmake, despite the original RE1 having a PC port, a Saturn port, a PS1 Director's Cut and even a rerelease of that Director's Cut that added Dual Analog support (ie: even more reissues than OOT has had).
