Looks just like FFXIII to me.

Also stop exaggerating so much. Everything from chapter 11 til the end of FXIII fitted on one disc. That's basically half the game (25 hours not even counting the side quests). And yes that's the non-linear part.
3 DVDs would be a good bet. Maaaaaybe 4.

We know that it was technically inferior because they were starting too late with the port and didn't have the time to do a proper job.

Maybe they're already porting Versus right now. If they do, we should see a better result this time around.

I disagree.

I'm not exaggerating anything at all really. And no, Gran Pulse isn't half of the game. And it's not even really that much of a big area... The area's it spans off onto are Linear as hell too... And the side quests again, aren't that big. An enemy spawns somewhere and you have to go kill it. Wooooo! That's making the game so much bigger!!! No.

Final Fantasy XIII was 3 discs. And the game was practically on-rails. Versus XIII has a FULL open map world. Towns. Shops. Airships. Blood! It's a far bigger project than XIII was. No offense, but you obviously haven't been reading up on the Versus XIII news... No way Versus would be on 3 discs if a 360 version was released. Not a chance, unless the version would be an even worse port than the FFXIII 360 copy...

It may be linear, but even then you need to create different location settings and FFXIII has plenty of them.Just because a location is more open doesn't mean it contains more data than let's say 3 linear game sections, even though the freeroam location might have more square meters and overall more time consuming. Copying and pasting textures and models use far less megabytes than making 3 different kinds of them.

That's why Fallout 3 easily fits on 1 DVD. It recycles many things and makes sure that you spend a lot of time in them.
I've already seen that huge desert like location of Versus. No problem. The bigger it is the less storage will be used compared to a linear setting with different looking locations.

And yes as far as the gameplay time goes. The beginning of chapter 11 is pretty much half the game.
