i'm not worried about wii party sales. i expected a slow debut. sales will increase more and more as christmas approaches. haven't people learnt anything? look at the debut sales of mario party 8 o just dance. they both opened worst than wii party, and both ended up with more than 2M in EMEAA alone. besides, wii party is bundled with a wiimote, so even after the end of the holydays effect , it should stabilize on 10k-20k for week, in a way similar to wii play.
the effect on hardware sales will not be immediate. but wii is a party console. and the holydays are a party season. a lot of pople will play this and many other games (just dance 2, Goldeneye, DKCR)in parties, will have fun and buy a wii afterwards. it will be a slow but constant grow from now to christmas, and it won't be the effect of a single game but the combination of many.
