I usually really like watching them, but when I was at Gamescom I watched a live CS 1.6 match between an Ukrainian clan and some other one I don't remember now and they had big screens which followed every player individually (so I think like 8 or 10 screens).

Either way I just couldn't keep up, It always seemed like I was watching the one player that gets shot in the back....

 

There also was a 1 vs 1 Quake Live match, which was better, cause easier to follow.

 

However I think if there are more than 4 players involved, a live broadcast really isn't that fun. Filtering out the best scenes from the best camera angle and with added commentary is way better for that.
Commentary for strategy games is a must btw.
