While the sales aren't too bad they are nevertheless under performing compared to the third party games of the 360 and ps3. It could be a case of not enough investment by 3rd parties, however if this situation doesn't improve within the next 12 months then it could hurt the wii sales while benefiting the other consoles.

Have you looked at the PS3's equivalent chart? 3rd party games aren't doing that well either. Plus with the BBC report of the costs of PS3 games, they are doing even worse. Now this can turn around, but it's not as good for the PS3 are you are making it out to be.

Right you are. Too many people here are obsessing with where the games are on the charts.

Only 2 3rd parties on the top 10? 3rd party titles must be doing horribly!

What matters to a company is not chart position (ok - it matters a little; we all like to have bragging rights now and again) but how many of the titles released actually make a profit.

It may be that EA has a better chance to land a Top 10 title on the 360 or PS3 than on the Wii, but that doesn't tell the whole tale, or even a very important part of it. What companies need is:

1) How much did the game cost to develop?

2) How many total copies were sold (ie - sell enough to make a profit?)

3) How many titles for that system failed to turn a profit?

4) Are the profits from successful games able to cover the losses incurred by the rest?

I don't claim to know the answers to any of these questions for any of these consoles, but until we do have them, it is impossible to say which console is "better" for third party publishers.
