My thread has been hijacked by Rol... I am honored.

Khuutra: I can't really think of anything to say as a retort to that. I believe what we have here is a failure of communication.

Regarding the existence of unreliable narrators: I am well aware of the concept, given how often I have had to correct people who did take legends and rhetorical means of expression litterary whilst discussing the timeline. Midna's story of her people's banishment is, as you mentioned, a good example, and that's why I said it was open to interpretation.

In light of this, I think we can agree that Zelda and Ganondorf's statements do not necessarily reflect the truth as regards the potential designs of the gods, but it is true that the story contains these elements because they brought them up.

Where we differ is primarily in our estimation of what kind of role the gods play. Do they not meddle with the world at all? I think both the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess imply that they do; or would you say that the Lanayru's statement that 'the goddesses ordered us three light spirits to intervene (with the Twili)' is simply rhetoric?
