Many people knew that an economic crash would happen in 2008, it was seen from a mile away. My dad said in what must have been 2006 that there would be a crash in 2008 and listed the reasons why, which were pretty accurate.

Did he guess? No he was just well informed.

Either way everything has an element of "Paul the octopus" to it. Millions of people make predictions every day, but every failed one goes unnoticed, whilst those few that don't fail are touted as "prophecies". I prefer to call it luck. Basically for every one in a million odds, there has to be one person who defies them, and that's down to luck alone.
