Maybe it's the same as how 3D Realms operated while working on Duke Nukem Forever over the last decade--the main guys were independantly wealthy.
At this point, I find it hard to believe that Sadness will ever happen. I grew tired of waiting for that game ages ago. Who cares anyway? Fallout New Vegas is coming...
