First day sales of halo3 were $170million in the US alone, so this has certainly sold less than halo3 did first day especially when you consider the high dollar value of some halo reach editions

Does anyone remember what VGC said Halo 3 did first day? Halo 3 did $300M first week and I am absolutely sure that high ups on VGC themselves said that remainder of the first week is usually equal to around 50% of first day, making Reach first week sales around the $300M mark, which judging by the editions along with the Bundle would make the launch smaller than Halo 3.

Part of thinks that this is why this thread is being avoided like the plague. Although to be honest I don't understand why. How many games can say they sold this much on just the first day? The numbers are still absolutely mind blowing.

Err, you do realize Halo 3 had the same legendary and limited editions prices that Halo Reach has? It had a hardware bundle console just like Reach too (though it did not include the game)

Halo 3 had a $120 bundle that was never claimed to be sold out, especially considering that you could find it everywhere. The Halo Reach Legendary Edition had news articles that had Gamestop claiming that they could no longer take preorders for it. Halo 3 had a $60 version and a $120 version along with a console bundle. Reach has a $60 version, $80 version, $250 version and a console bundle.

The situation is absolutely different.

If Microsoft's numbers include bundles and all game SKUs than it is very very possible that Reach launch was smaller than Halo 3 launch. Also the fact that the Halo 3 bundle didn't include the game makes this now Halo 3 and Halo 3 Legendary selling $300 Million vs. Reach, Reach Collectors, Reach Legendary and Reach Bundle selling $200 million.

I also didn't mention the $170 Million first week US numbers. I am just going by what Reuter's and Microsoft are stating.
