Err, you do realize Halo 3 had the same legendary and limited editions prices that Halo Reach has? It had a hardware bundle console just like Reach too (though it did not include the game) |
Halo 3 had a $120 bundle that was never claimed to be sold out, especially considering that you could find it everywhere. The Halo Reach Legendary Edition had news articles that had Gamestop claiming that they could no longer take preorders for it. Halo 3 had a $60 version and a $120 version along with a console bundle. Reach has a $60 version, $80 version, $250 version and a console bundle.
The situation is absolutely different.
If Microsoft's numbers include bundles and all game SKUs than it is very very possible that Reach launch was smaller than Halo 3 launch. Also the fact that the Halo 3 bundle didn't include the game makes this now Halo 3 and Halo 3 Legendary selling $300 Million vs. Reach, Reach Collectors, Reach Legendary and Reach Bundle selling $200 million.
I also didn't mention the $170 Million first week US numbers. I am just going by what Reuter's and Microsoft are stating.
