I updated Halo: Reahc Pre-orders. If the game has the same Pre-order to sales ratio as Halo 3: ODST, then Halo: reach should sell 5.85 million copies in week one alone. So basically this would imply that Halo: Reach outsells Halo 3:ODST in a single week.
VGChartz estimates a more modest 4.25 million week one, which is 425k more then Halo 3 or 11.4% more then Halo 3.
Personally I feel 5 million is attainable (31.1 % more then Halo 3). I bet Bungie would love to outsell ODST sales in 1 week, but I think it will take 2. Lets see what happens in a week.
P.S. If Halo: Reach outsells Halo 3 by 11.4% total, the game will sell a little above 12.42 million units. If Halo Reach outsells Halo 3 by 31.1% total, then it will sell a total of over 14.6 million, which would match the prediction I made in my sig.
