It's unfortunate that, in this day and age, we still have bias based on race and religion.
Having said that, if your employer doesn't want you to wear a hijab, you shouldn't be wearing a hijab. It's not your inalienable right to be able to wear what you want, where you want, when you want, or anyone could proclaim that their religion requires that they go to work naked except for bright pink socks.
On top of that, it says nothing in the Qur'an about wearing a hijab, and it's a sign of oppression. So no, that is not religious discrimination. If you want to live in Rome, you have to do as the Romans. I highly doubt that any non-Muslim woman in Saudi Arabia (if any should for any reason want to go there) would not hesitate to wear a burqa, and that's the exact opposite - it is forcing women into an inferior position.
