Out of comparison for how other versions were, I skipped both 1 and 2's GBC releases; the game style was similar to the PS1 (and DC) versions of them. However, GTA3, released in 2001, was when things took off for the series; people liked the 3D aspect, with the 2D aspect not to be seen again for new games. They saw that 3D is what the fans of the series wanted. So why, in 2004 (and 2009), would you do another 2D version, unless, like I said in my other post, it was a half-assed effort. They knew that 2D wasn't as popular, but by doing the games in that style for the GBA (and DS), they could try to justify there "not being a market" for the franchise with the lower sales.
