Ok, it seems I was wrong after all, sorry for the waste of time and fingertips...

Not Really, you brought up a good point about "Call of Duty Fever." Modern Warfare only sold 1 million duing it's first week, but it kept high numbers up over the Holidays, and sold well throughout 2008. So Initially there wasn't as much CoD Fever, but it picked up quick. This will cut sales, if it weren't for Modern Warfare 1 and Black Ops, Halo would be a 15 million seller game, both Halo 3 and Reach.

The only flaw of your logic is that it's the sole reason why Reach will sell less then Halo 3 did. I just don't understand that. Yes Black Ops is comming out, and it's likely to be the best selling Treyarch CoD title, but it's still a Treyarch title. So even if Call of Duty fever is stronger now, this isn't a primary Modern Warfare title.

Still it's a valid point, but it's only one point. The whole purpose of this thread is not to introduce subjective clauses, but to look at the data. I'm not trying to predict Halo: Reach sales, I am trying to track it and compare it to other Halo games, so that when Black Ops releases, people can understand how big this Halo will/has become.

Black Ops is already beating MW2 in pre-orders compared to MW2 during it's time.

Thats true, but not my much, and I'm skeptical if it's pre-orders will remain above MW2. It's only seen a large boost in sales for the past 3 weeks, why all of a sudden? Before that it was below MW2. Blacks Ops is a compeditor, getting more pre-orders then any other CoD game, but Reach is also getting more pre-orders then any other Halo. Both franchises have grown in the past 3 years, I still think the level of competition from CoD is the same, but I'm not telling you to beleive otherwise. When the games come out we will find out whats what, maybe Reach and Black Ops will outsell MW2.

It rose because of the videos they have been bringing forth.  I really think people are actually interested in Black Ops, one of Treyarch's first huge hits, better than MW2 I think.  We've seen everything except for their wild card:  Zombie Nazi's.  That was the only reason I got World at War.

But you are right, but Halo Reach was below MW2 in pre orders for awhile, then shot up.  Black Ops might have the edge now, but maybe not for long.  Who knows.  I'm getting both games regardless.

Glad to see an intelligent comment once in a while. I'm also a little sceptical about Black Ops because it's a game set in Vietnam, a War not too popular among video games. Also Treyarch games in the past have been outsold by prior Infinity Ward titles (CoD2 > CoD3, and MW1 > WaW by sales). I think it will do well, it will most likely outsell WaW, and at the very least MW1, but for it to be the best selling CoD, thats iffy. Still Black Ops and Halo will dominate sales this fall, both will break 10 million on the 360. I may do another "understanding" article for Call of Duty. Probably going to do it for GT.

I'm buying Reach, and I may buy Black Ops, but I need to know more about the game before I consider it. Without a co-op spec ops mode, I may pass on this title.
