Only thing that comes to my mind is that the life on Helghan changed them somehow. Or maybe they are more advanced type of humans. But than again, they get their ass kicked by ISA all the time

Hum, no.  A quick look at scholar Visari's speech at the very beginning of Killzone 2 will show you their ears are normal ears.

As for the hair, this is due to the Helghan planet's Atmosphere being highly radioactive. ^_-

hmm, i could have sworn i saw the sharp ears in the game somwhere. i"ll check again sometimes later
