I can't really find figures for J2ME, really hard. But it has been the founding blocks for mobile market. Companies like Firemint and Rovio started their success there.

Just found this: Farm Frenzy an app in the App Store has 6 million downloads in the Ovi Store (http://mobileperry.com/?p=378) Can't see if it's the full or lite versions, or both combined. Also here http://mobileperry.com/?p=440. 1.7 million downloads a day with more than 75% of downloads being apps and games? I know Apple is big in the US and the market there is very successful, making it a big one. But there is a whole world out there, and the others are sure making money there also. Maybe less than Apple, since it seems so hard to actually find figures, but shouldn't be shrugged off.

And you can't go comparing the mobile market to the handheld one. They are aimed differently in other volumes in mind.

EDIT: If you follow the source from the source link you go to the nokia ovi success section. (just a few apps really) And for Polarbit a symbian developer it says it has 1 million downloads.

Downloads are not the same thing as sales. The big difference between iOS users and other platforms is that people buy games from the app store.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
