Two Zelda timelines? Heaven forbid! (ancient spoiler alert)

I never really understood the need to squeeze those titles into a timeline. It's obvious (at least to me) that they were never meant to, and I think that the recent talk from Nintendo about a timeline is due to fans keep talking about it.
