Forums - Nintendo - Two Zelda timelines? Heaven forbid! (ancient spoiler alert)

I just had a rather interesting thought that prompted me to turn on the computer and post a new thread.

OK, you know that, at the end of Ocarina of Time, Zelda sent Link to live out his lost childhood, effectively rendering him persona non grata for the rest of Old Hyrule's history, in spite of other Heroes rising up and being compared to him. However, that very act may have opened up a divergent timeline in which the Hero of Time got to live a full life. If this is true, then I believe that this new timeline may already have been explored, at least in part, by Majora's Mask. (hey, all Nintendo has said on the subject of the time frame of Majora's Mask is that it occured during the childhood of the Hero of Time; they never said it was the same timeline; as a matter of fact, it most likely wasn't)

What are your thoughts on this subject, Vgchartz Network Community?  Do you believe that there could be multiple Zelda timelines, and if so, where do you think your favorite Zelda game fits?

That's called the split timeline theory and has been confirmed by Aonuma, the director of a whole list of Zelda titles and the producer of Skyward Sword:

Unless I'm missing something here..

Split timelines are not that cool *sigh*

I think my favorite Zelda (Wind Waker) is in the "bad" timeline. Am I right?

I never really understood the need to squeeze those titles into a timeline. It's obvious (at least to me) that they were never meant to, and I think that the recent talk from Nintendo about a timeline is due to fans keep talking about it.

Quoted for truth.

Why do people have to squeeze everything into a timeline? It's game series and every game stands for itself. At least I personally don't care about a timeline even a little bit.
