I'm rather impressed about how involved the combat even with regular enemies sounds. Depth of combat has never been especially Metroid, all the more so in the 2D games. It's kinda like controlling Smash Bros Samus in an actual Metroid game, which should be an amazing opportunity.
The GameSpot one seemed to indicate that you'll get an item to make switching between items faster, which means that the system may be non-stackable, which could bring back still more dynamic combat like the original Metroid Prime had.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
