Monotonous inner monologues are a staple, especially in anime, but they can be widely found in Western works as well.
Even for someone who is perhaps more outgoing than Samus, such monologues would not necessarily be out of place (you get sober, monotone reflections from characters as hotheaded as Naruto, for instance)
